Adding inventory into specific pools in Returns
Overview
This release introduces the Return Pool Allocation feature, enabling clients to add returned inventory directly into specific pools based on pre-configured strategies. Returned inventory can be placed in either the original pool from which it was dispatched or the common pool, based on the client’s operational needs.
This functionality is helpful to brands for use cases like managing both B2B and B2C inventory within segregated or reserved pools.
Impact on Operations
Increased Efficiency: This feature reduces manual intervention to move returned stock between pools, enabling automatic inventory allocation to the correct pools during returns.
Improved Accuracy: Ensures returned stock is placed in the appropriate pool, enhancing inventory accuracy for both B2B and B2C channels. Brands can manage both B2B and B2C stock together without physical segregation(just logical segregation in pools) while maintaining operational flexibility. Inventory from B2C returns can be added back to the pool it was dispatched from, ensuring proper stock reconciliation and financial management
User Access
OMS administrators can define a strategy to choose whether inventory after returns is allocated to the common pool or returned to the original pool.
Return Pool Allocation Strategy
The strategy can be defined at the client, channel, and fulfillment location level.
Return to source location Strategy: User can define strategy to automatically allocate returned inventory directly to either the common pool or the original pool (the pool associated with the channel from which the item was dispatched).
Return to other location Strategy: When a return is received at a different fulfillment location from where the forward order was processed, users can define the strategy to return the inventory to the common pool or a pool tied to the receiving channel.
